House Fire Breaks Out In North White Plains Fireplace

A fire broke out in a Westchester home on Sunday night, prompting a heavy response from area fire departments, who quickly knocked down the flames.

The North Castle Fire Department received a call of an active structure fire on General Heath Avenue in North White Plains at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9.

Crews from the North White Plains, Valhalla, Thornwood and West Harrison fire departments responded to the scene and quickly battled the blaze. Investigators from the Westchester County Cause and Origin Team said that the fire was found to be an accident, and originated in the fireplace.

The occupants of the home were able to leave the residence without incident and no injuries were reported.
